The best time to plant a tree is twenty years ago. The next best time to plant a tree is today.
High Desert Landscape was established in 1993. We are a small company that specializes in xeriscape/landscape design/ build/ consultation for the Wasatch mountain region. High Desert Landscape has successfully completed thousands of projects. High Desert Landscape is a licensed landscape contractor. Our team of landscape designers, Rob and Nachi, are both graduates of the University of Utah. In addition to completing their bachelor of science degrees in geography and masters of business administration, both have studied architecture, landscape architecture, landscape design, horticulture, land use planning and urban planning. Before they designed and built their custom home in Summit County, Utah, Rob and Nachi completed a certification course in log home construction and maintenance, offered by Old Timer Log Homes at their facility in Nashville, TN.
In his earlier years, prior to founding High Desert Landscape, after graduating from culinary school, Rob was a chef and adjunct faculty at Salt Lake Community College as a culinary arts instructor. Nachi did medical research and meteorological cartography while in college. As well, Nachi grew up working in her grandfathers medical practice. in his youth Rob was a member of the Ski Roundtop ski racing team, Ski Liberty’s grass ski racing team, and later 1988-1990-Park City’s White Wave snowboard team, where he had several podium finishes. Rob placed first for his age group(14-16) and third overall in the 1978 grass skiing world championships at Ski Liberty.
in 1985-86, Rob petitioned Park West ski resort to allow snowboarding. This ultimately led to Rob being the first snowboarder to legally ride a Park City ski resort chairlift and ride on Parkwest ski resorts slopes on a trial basis in 1986. Following this trial period, where the resort administration studied how a snowboarder interacted with skiers on the mountain, Parkwest-currently The Canyons portion of PCMR-formally allowed snowboarding at their resort beginning in the 1987-88 season and continuing to this day. Rob was featured in a widely published Ski Utah ad campaign promoting snowboarding including a photo in Ski magazine. High Desert Lanscape has built many interesting projects along the Wasatch front and back ranging from; small landscape design and build renovation projects, new home construction, landscape design/ build for restaurants, businesses, law firms, etc. As well, we have built fences, patios, sheds, she sheds, other outbuilding design and construction, a tree house, putting greens, synthetic lawns, trail design and construction, ski slopes and chairlift site preparation.
High Desert Landscape has worked successfully in many varied environments, from mountaintops to shoehorned sites in the back of dead end alleyways. Many with little to no access and some where everything had to be hand carried out and in, including heavy rocks and trees. If you need a complete landscape design or a fresh perspective for a challenging underutilized portion of your property or you can’t seem to make grass grow in a shaded area, we have the experience and creativity to come up with solutions.
